Would you be pissed?

This Wednesday is me and my SO's 4 year anniversary and he already made plans this weekend to go to a conference for work (which was not required and is something he is doing on his own time). We just moved to a new area and I have been telling him I want to go out and meet people and actually had a chance to a couple of weekends ago but he didn't want to so we stayed home. He promised to take me out a couple of weekends later. Promise broken and he never took me out. Now, he agreed to go to this stupid conference  and I am furious about it because he is being selfish and not even asking me how I want to spend our anniversary weekend. And he said If I don't want to go I don't have to he's still going. This is bullshittttttt!!! (Sorry for incoherent blabbing really pissed)... Would you be pissed????

I would be upset that he didn't discuss it with me beforehand & just said "I'm going whethe you do or not", but my husband & I don't make decisions about things like that alone.

It's for work. Get over it. Do something the following weekend or the weekend before. Or just go out to dinner the night of. Why does this need to be an entire weekend thing? Sounds like you had your hopes up about something and can't compromise.

What if he is tricking you and trying to surprise you? I would go and make the best of the situation anytime together is better than nothing .

Go stay at the hotel with him for the weekend ... When he is at the conference... Paper yourself... Pool, massage, shopping?

I get that it's for work but what about all the other times. It would make me feel as if he didn't want to spend time with me

Id be more annoyed that he made promises he didn't keep. I'd rather go out the day of my anniversary than postpone it.

I'd do both, go to his work thing but make him take you to go do something fun after, or the following weekend. Don't let it ruin your anniversary just work through it and find something you both would like to do. It's ok to be frustrated or bummed that things aren't going the way you thought they would but don't let it settle in and make a fight. Doing anything happy is much better than doing nothing angry...
