Latching Advice Please!!

My little girl is 8 days old today and I am still in so much pain when nursing. Is it normal for my nipples to still feel like they are being put through a meat grinder?! I saw my lactation consultant twice. She said she seems to be latching okay. She does have a tongue tie, not terrible but her pediatrician mentioned we could get it clipped. Could it still be a latching problem or maybe the tongue tie? I desperately want to keep nursing so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks ladies!!
