Taking it to the next level...

I need an advice. So my guy whom I am dating for a couple of months now is kind of afraid to commit. I asked him why and said it's because of a past relationship that ended up really bad. He wants to make sure about everything first. And he also said that he would make a bad boyfriend.

I really like this guy and I am ready to take whatever we have and make it official. What do you guys think I should do or say? Any thoughts?
