Anybody here get the whooping cough vaccine while pregnant??

My OB is suggesting I get the whooping cough vaccine. Can't remember the exact weeks I need to be, but I know it's coming up (I'm 23 weeks) and was wondering if anyone chose to get the shot or declined it. OB is making it seem like I have to get it...

Whooping cough is HORRIBLE and is coming back in the U.S. And babies who get it often die. A bunch of my friends and I got it in college, right before they recommended college age kids get a booster. I felt like I was going to throw up a lung every day, and u was pretty healthy at 20 years old before hand. Newborns are too young for the vaccine so They recommend pregnant women, family members/ household members and care providers get the vaccine so you won't get whooping cough and pass it along to your baby. Google videos of babies with whooping cough if you want to see why they are suggesting you protect your baby from it.

It's optional. Do your research and see if it is something you want to do. Don't just agree to anything they might, "suggest". My father in law had a horrible reaction to the swine flu shot and its left them with an irreversible disease. Our baby is at risk to potentially have reactions to vaccines so we will not be taking any recommended vaccinations for ourselves or our baby. Everyone is different. Personally I've never been a fan of them.

I'm getting mine and my flu shot at 32 weeks. I have it scheduled. My doc said its safe during third trimester. It's a personal choice but I want us to be protected. After working in hospitals before my current at home position I personally wouldn't risk not having one and becoming infected or infecting others.

My OB suggests 28 weeks.  I did a ton of research with my first pregnancy and opted to get it.  I will get it with this pregnancy as well.

Mine never said anything about getting it while pregnant. I always got it in the hospital after birth though... With my last 2 pregnancies and most likely this one...

With my first, I got the vaccine right after I delivered. Hubby got it shortly after. By us being protected, it protected her. Now, they recommend getting it while still pregnant. This way, the baby gets a trace of the vaccine in their system and gets protected for themselves since they can't get the vaccine once they're born.

I'm getting mine at my 24 week appointment. It can be dangerous for you and baby to get the flu and or whooping cough.

I can't remember if I got it during my pregnancy or of that was one they gave me before they discharged me after his delivery. I personally will do it whenever I'm told to.
