What can you take you have a cold?

Cordelia
Hi! I'm only five weeks pregnant and have caught a cold.  I also have been getting some brutal headaches. Is it safe to take Tylenol in the first trimester? Are there any other medications that I could take? Thanks for your help!

You have to click the pic to see the whole thing. But there is a little thing at the top that says "to avoid medications in the 1st trimester unless medically necessary as instructed by your physician" so I would ask your dr!

Tylenol is ok, it's ibuprofen your not supposed to take. Honey has natural antibacterial properties, try drinking a hot cup of water with honey and lemon. At bedtime I enjoy warm milk with honey too.

I got a cold right after we started trying (was actually pregnant but didn't know yet). All I did was gargle with salt water (add a little honey to help the taste... It's still gross, but helps). I gargled every hour for a minute each time, and it really helped. You should be getting vitamin c if you're taking prenatals but sometimes drinking a glass of orange juice would just make me feel better. Hope you feel better soon! Oh... And lots of rest and water... Stay hydrated!! :)
