What does everyone thing about newborns and cats?

Allergies. Stories of how they handled cats w their newborn.

I didn't do anything different with my cats and my son. We had no issues. I just made sure they stayed out of his face and off his things

My first did develop allergies to my cat I had at the time. She began losing weight and had difficulty breathing. I tried so many things, but she continued to get worse. I found him a home with a retired army vet who lived alone. It still breaks my heart. We have 2 cats in our home now that cause no issues with my daughter, but this baby is due in March. Thanks for asking this question maybe I can learn too!

We had a cat when our first was born and had no issues. Now we still have that cat, plus another which is our daughter's cat. Hopefully everything goes fine with next baby too.

Just made sure the cat was never alone with the baby. I was afraid of her climbing onto his face. 
The cat was actually more interested in my boobs especially during feeding times lol.

I made sure the cat wasn't alone with the baby and I watched to see how he reacted. I didn't want to just push him away immediately and cause any resentment or spiteful behavior. He seemed afraid at first but then disinterested, now he's interested but must know she's a Baby bc he puts up with more from her than my older daughter (who is a lot tougher on the cat on her own).

I didn't do anything different with our cat. She would put her front paws on my son to sniff him, but that was all.

I'm just going to make sure the cats can't get to the baby without supervision. Mine are all so loving so I'm not worried about any of them hurting it, just worried about then smothering it as they all seek out warmth & like to sleep on our bodies whenever they can.
