Incision Massage?

Question

Just went in for my 2 week incision check and the OB said to massage my incision twice a day for 10 minutes?

Anyone done this? How do you do it? Why?

I've been doing this for the past several weeks. At 5 months postpartum, I was still experiencing stinging at the incision and pain a little higher up (where the abdominal muscles were cut), so my OB recommended massage. It's supposed to help break up the scar tissue so everything heals properly.

I'm 6 months pp now and I'm not sure the massage has made a difference, but I'm going to keep at it for a few more weeks before talking to my OB again.

Massage will help with the internal scaring. It can help break up scar tissue and help new forming tissue fuse in a way that it has more mobility causing less pain.
