Herbal teas?

Just got released from the hospital, was having contractions but my cervix was closed and baby looked perfect. When I was being discharged the nurse told me not to drink herbal tea. Why is that? Does is kick start labor or...??? Any idea?

Caffeine. Tea usually has natural caffeine and it dehydrates you. Dehydration can lead to pre term labor. Also, certain herbs can start contractions as well.

Yes unless you get decaf herbal has it and other things not safe for baby

Herbal tea does not contain caffein, but they might have herbs that could bring on contractions. In theory. You'd have to drink quite a lot to get any real affect, but your nurse was being cautious. A standard Celestial Seasonings tea really shouldn't have anything suspect in it, but you might want to stay away from any medicinal blends.
