Why shouldn't I tell?

I want to tell everyone that I'm preggers but the stigma behind tell too early is bothering me (I'm 5 weeks). Is anyone else having this problem? Or should I just start announcing it to the world?

I announced at 6 weeks. I felt my baby's life is worth celebrating, even if it's short. :) do what is best for you.

I miscarried my first pregnancy, and the most painful part was having to go back and tell everyone. I felt like a failure for miscarrying my babe, and unfortunately no one in our friend group or immediate family had experienced miscarriage so they just all looked at me like a dear in headlights and just wanted me to get on with my life and stop being sad about it. The whole thing was awlful, and made me depressed for months. We wait until 18 wks to announce the following pregnancy. That being said, many people have much better support networks than I did. I have a beautiful little girl now and am working on our next but probably won't announce this one till second trimester either 😊 Good luck mama, whatever you choose!

I told my family at 4 weeks! And started telling close friends at 6 weeks!  I think we are waiting till the end of the first trimester to tell the world (we are now 7 weeks), but agree with the previous comment. My baby is worth celebrating it's life! Even if it is short lives. I'm happy and excited, and knowing I have so much love and support makes this journey that much better :)

My doctor told me that the statistics are basically 1 in 4 chance of having a miscarriage. It's up to you if you want to tell everyone but you basically have a 25% chance of having a miscarriage. I personally have witnessed two friends and both my sisters suffer miscarriages and it's difficult to have to go back and tell everyone. For this reason we decided to tell just immediate family and our closest friends until we had our ultrasound which was at 8 weeks 3 days. Everything looked good so we told a couple more people now and we will wait until 13 weeks to announce it to the world so to speak. That's what we are doing and I will say. It gets easier to not want to shout it from the roof top after the first couple weeks :). Do what's best for you and Goodluck with your pregnancy and symptoms :)

I am 5 weeks as well, I decided to tell all my family, and closest friends. I however chose not to announce it on social media and asked the people who know to not post anything as well. I plan to post it way later on when I'm ready for the world to know but for now just my close circle. I have a history of miscarriages, which of course I'm still worried about, but telling everyone close to me actually made me feel less worried, and a lot calmer. Everyone should feel free to announce whenever they want. I know I'm waiting until I'm out of the first trimester, simply because I don't want to break bad news if a worst case scenario goes down. Also, I feel like telling people is a jinx but that's just me being crazy.

I think that stigma is so irritating. I really want my baby's life to be celebrated, no matter how short. We told close family right away and announced at 9 weeks after two ultrasounds of hearing and seeing the baby's heartbeat. Do what's right for you and what feels right, don't let other people tell you otherwise.
