After period fluids!

Idk if this happens to anyone else but I get my period for 7 days like heavy blood but when it ends, for about a week, there's this brown discharge that is still coming out and it kind of destroys my undies almost as much as my actual period would do. Does anyone else get this? If so, what is it? Is it normal? Can I make it stop? I mostly use tampons but even when I used pads this would happen, as if my period wasn't completely gone.
