If the stylist burned your scalp, it's total neglegance. You shouldn't pay for anything especially not the tip. If the stylist burned your scalp or damaged your hair and scalp, it is possible for you to take them to court for your injuries and expense of fixing it. Consumers expect a safe environment and a trained professional. No don't pay and no tip.

I would try to explain why I don't like it before I left or paid and give the stylist a chance to fix it. That way maybe everybody leaves happy

I most likely wouldn't pay or at least request a discount. Especially since it's really expensive to get my hair dyed (it's very long and very thick, I end up paying almost $200). If they screwed it up that bad and burned my scalp, I'm not paying $200 for that!

Talk to the manager before you leave and let them know you're unhappy if they are a reputable salon they will see what they can do to help you fix the problem.

You should still leave a tip for at least trying. She probably didn't know how your hair would grab color. Usually if you call the next day and say you don't like it, they will do it over again. I'm a hairstylist and I get so upset if people don't tip because i worked so hard on a color and a simple little mistake can screw It all up. Most of the time it's miscommunication.

I wish when this happened to me I didn't pay. I had burns the size of quarters. All over. And it was a horrible color. I cried. And never went back to that lady.
