Will you ask people who come in contact with your newborn to be up to date on tetanus/TDAP and the flu shot?

My OB suggested that any of my family or friends that will be in contact with my newborn get up to date on TDAP and the flu shot. I had my 36 week appointment today.

No way. It's not my right to tell anyone to inject themselves with anyone. I don't get any vaccines either.

I'm having everyone who will be in close contact with her early on to have the Tdap. Grandparents, siblings, and my husband all got it because I basically told them they wouldn't be seeing baby without it.

I think it's more important that they are physically clean.... wash hands, clean clothing etc.

For those of you who are against this please be aware that the TDAP is for whooping cough and studies and statistics show that it is on the rise again.

During 2014, 32,971 cases of pertussis were reported to CDC. This represents a 15% increase compared 28,639 cases reported during 2013.
Age-incidence trends observed during 2014 were similar to those in 2013 and 2012. Increased rates were again observed in adolescents 13 through 15 years of age, as well as in 16 year olds. 
The majority of deaths occurred among babies younger than 3 months old."
It's our job to protect our newborns. They cannot defend themselves against the individuals carrying viruses that we allow to come into contact with them.

Yup husband already knows. Flu shot is mandetory in the military but he will be getting his TDap for sure.  I will be getting mine at work as well (work in a pharmacy). Both set of grandparents have been told as well as aunts and uncles. Though I worry since the area I live was kind of the US epidemic center for whooping cough last year... But what can I do except limit my babies exposure to the best of my ability.

I am going to ask my family to get the hooping cough vaccine but not sure about the flu or tetnis.

I'm asking but not demanding.  Both me and my husband already have ours.  I know both grandparents are going to get them. And my younger sisters but I'm not sure about the rest.

No point to get tetanus shot but I don't see an issue with requesting the others. At least of dad and grandparents
