Flu Shot?!

For some reason I am SO nervous to get a flu shot because I'm afraid it will hurt the baby. My doctor said it was perfectly safe for me and baby, but I'm still worried. Has anyone gotten a flu shot yet or planning to do so?!

For me personally the flu shot does more harm than good. No flu shot-no flu. Flu shot-flu.

I literally just got mine today. Listen, I'm an OB nurse, and we have had quite a few people in the OB ICU because they had the flu, and since your immune system is almost nonexistent when you're pregnant, it can seriously do some damage to you and baby.

Now, obviously vaccinations aren't for everyone(though they should be), but it's YOUR body, and YOUR baby, so regardless of anyone else's beliefs about vaccinations, do what you believe is best. The chances of you having any side effects other than a slightly sore arm and a stuffy nose is extremely slim, and staying healthy is so important during pregnancy. But like I said, make the decision you believe is the best, listen to your instincts and talk to your doctor. Don't let anyone make you get it or talk you out of getting it.

I would personally do it, and as a nurse and advocate I think it's a good idea. But if you don't get it, you'll probably be fine, just try and stay away from sick people and eat lots and lots of healthy food and exercise to keep your body and immune system as strong as possible.

I'm not getting the flu shot, I never have and neither has my husband.  I've read the pros and cons about it, and don't feel it's the right thing for me.   look it up on the CDCs website and do what you feel is right for you.

I'm getting mine this week. Flu season started early here and we are required to have it as hospital employees. I do react to vaccines and am prepared for that but because I'm surrounded by sick patients all day, I want the extra protection. My husband never gets the vaccine and has gotten the flu twice in the last few years. If anything , I'm protecting myself from him! Lol I wish he would get it this year but he HATES needles... I think I might be able to convince him though.

Got mine. I'm a high risk asthma patient so it's almost guaranteed hospital time if I get the flu. I get one every year!

I got it yesterday, my doctor advised my whole family to get it. I was certainly worried but he convinced me that it was best for baby and I. I got it right in his office, which was the dead and "safer" vaccine option to get. I work for CPS and I'm in and out of homes and schools all day so my chances of getting the flu are very high.
