Visitors of baby with oral herpes?? Question?

After reading an article recently that a 1 month old baby contracted oral herpes from a visitor who kissed them on their face/mouth, I'm slightly freaked out!! This visitor did not have an active outbreak, so there was no way for mom to know. Plus, I never knew that oral herpes is potentially life threatening to infants, can cause brain damage, etc.

How do I politely ensure that no one kiss our baby's face but US? The kicker in this situation is that my MIL has oral herpes, and if I tell her she can't kiss her grandson on the face she may kill me....

I would definitely say something. It's your child and you are the advocate for your child. If it makes her mad, who cares it's your baby's health.

Show her the article. That might make her change her mind. We aren't allowing anyone but us kiss our baby on the face or hands either.

I have this same situation with my sister in law. Who has oral and genital herpes... 😝 I always get really paranoid when we are around her. And that my daughter doesn't like pick up her drink and drink it and stuff. It's like weird. Honestly. She maybe pissed but I'd still say something. It would be worse if your innocent baby got herpes than her being mad at u. My aunt actually has genital herpes as well and when I was little I was really close to her and my mom said she was always making sure she wasn't letting me use her underwear or like take baths with her or anything. I would def say something!!
