At any age, not just little ones, but does it bother you when you have rules for your children but your parents/in laws don't abide by them?

Thats what going to grandmas house is all about. My parents won't undermine me in front of my kids no way but when there at grandmas house of course it's more fun. Why take that away

Idk. I have mixed feelings about it. I mean as long as it's only with harmless things then I can see where parents think it's ok but to me I don't think that's a signal to be sending your child. Personally to me I take it as you're teaching your child how to get around rules. Which in most cases it ends up being fine but sometimes it comes back to bite you in the butt later on. I remember learning in psychology that when teaching children what they can and can't do you need to always always always have consistency. And with this, you're taking away that consistency

OMG...I have to deal with this all the time with my MIL. She does not listen to us at all and it's not just spoiling and saying yes to everything, but I feel she makes very unhealthy choices for my child even though we have told her over and over again to feed her healthier. She'll buy my 3 year old McDonalds, chips, candy, soda, chocolate milk, and juice that is not juice. It drives me nuts because one of her grandsons is morbidly obese and on the verge of diabetes. Guess what...he lives with her! I told her to buy 100% juice. She did but only once. I told her to get Ovaltine instead of Hershey's chocolate syrup. She has not. Give her fruit to snack on, which she loves! No, she gets M&Ms instead. McDonalds is okay one in a while, but I caught her buying it twice in one week for her. Like really?!? Does she want her grandchildren to get heart disease, diabetes, and be overweight for the rest of their lives? It's not okay with us and she knows it so why does she do this? Drives me insane!

To an extent it's fine with me. Grandparents are supposed to be a little more lenient.

The boys love staying with my mom because if they want to jump on the trampoline at two am she will take them out to do it. I wouldn't want it any other way.

But if she went against my parenting in any way, we'd have problems.

As long as the grandparents know where the line is and respect it, it's okay with me.

In my opinion it's very wrong. I will not tolerate such behavior from either of them. Be it my MIL or my mother. It's not acceptable with me.
