Opting for a C-section?

Anyone opting for a C-section? I have had 2 agonizing vaginal recoveries from my other kids and would really love to give my downstairs a break this time. Especially considering the high possibility of having 1 vaginally  and 1 through C-section. I couldn't imagine having to recover from both at the same time. Anyone else?

I wouldn't recommend it. There are so many more risks, not to mention the recovery is much longer and more painful. I had a terrible c-section. I lost a ton of blood, which caused tachycardia (almost needed a blood transfusion), and had a bad reaction to the anesthesia. I could not hold my baby girl for hours because I was shaking so badly and could not breast feed her for at least 5 hours after birth. Not saying this will happen to you, but just know there are many risks involved and it is a MAJOR surgery.

I chose to have a csection. It was my first pregnancy and knew I did not want to push a baby out. Got lots of judgement for making the choice but it was best decidion for me. Everything went great. My son was born on 8/8 and my recovery was very easy. Would go that route again in a heartbeat.

I had a c section with my first, so this baby will be a c section as well. My doctor doesn't do VBAC. I'm perfectly happy having another one, my first went smoothly and my recovery was not bad at all.

I elected for one with my first at 40 weeks I hadn't dilated and made zero progress so I had the option of being induce or a c-section.

I'd choose an elective c-section over an induction/emergency c-section any day.

This pregnancy I considered a VBAC for a long time, but ultimately I'm choosing a repeat c-section, the risks don't outweigh the benefits for me.

My c-section was easy the first time,  my recovery was easy. My experience wasn't bad, but I know that isn't the case for everyone.

It's definitely a tough recovery. I had a very standard by the book medically necessary but elective c section with my son and I was in pain for a couple weeks but was up and moving within days. I would say if you are having twins and are concerned about having to deal with both then I wouldn't blame you for just opting to have one even though the recovery will be tough with two newborns and two other children at home.

Most women do just fine after a c-section.  I was up and going, carrying my baby no problem and driving within two weeks (earlier if I wanted).  Emergency c-sections are the ones to avoid if you can.  They are much harder if you've been laboring as well as more difficult and pressure on doctor). It is major surgery but the complication rate is fairly low.  A c-section puts mom at risk whereas a vaginal birth is riskier for babies.  I also have a fear of having to have both and I'm a VBAC candidate (breech presentation with my oldest, automatic c-section where I am).

A c section is a major sergury.  I wouldn't opt for one.  Why were your births so agonizing?  Is there anything that you could do differently to have a better experience?  I've been told some recover easily from a c section and others can't walk up stairs, pick up their baby or drive for 6-8 weeks. 😁. It's totally a personal choice though.

I will be having a scheduled csection for my twins in November & I'm very happy about that. I'm an RN who works in surgery & I can say from experience that scheduled csections are smooth sailing 99% of the time. An emergency csection on the other hand is a different story. I was also worried about laboring for hours & having to have an emergency section or delivering one vaginally and having to deliver the other via csection.

Thank you for all your input! It is such a hard decision to make and because I've never had a C-section I am so nervous. Ultimately wanting to make the best and most informed decision for me and babies. You ladies are wonderful! Thank you again.
