Rude?..

I work at a Wawa gas store in Norfolk, VA. The whole area of the Hampton Roads are full of different race, especially black people; which is the majority of the population. I have NO problem with black people. 98% of the people I work with are black. I've dated black men in the past, so I'm not racist. Anyway, especially today, the people have been so rude! Don't get me wrong, I get rude white customers, mexican, etc, but the most common customers that I get that are rude are black people. They get mad if you are taking too long for the customer in front of them, (which isn't my fault half the time), they talk about you under their breath, they act like they are better than you, and are just flat out RUDE. No, I'm not singling out black people, but that's MY experience ever since I've been working at this Gas store. Before moving to VA, I lived in Ohio and the black people there were ACTUALLY NICE. Now, don't get me wrong, there are some really nice black people that come in, but most of the time, it's the rude ones that come in...

Is it just the area I'm in?!

Here's some advice: If you don't want people to think you're being racist, don't be racist. If 'I'm not racist but...' or any variation thereof has to precede or follow your statement to prove you are not racist, you are behaving in a racist manner.

Welcome to retail/customer service? You'd get the same treatment regardless. I worked retail 10 years. It's not a race issue, it's a people issue. It's the nature of the beast.

Every time someone says it, I think of this.

If you have to go out of your way to explain how you're "not racist" chances of you being a racist are prettyyyyyyyy high.

I think it's the area you're in, when I lived in Florida I did notice that people were a bit more ghetto and rude down there. Where I'm at now in California, people are snobby and rude lol. There's rude people everywhere, but there really is a different kind of rude depending on where you're at.

Your clientele depends on the area you're in. I used to work in a rich white community and it was the worst job of my life. I work in downtown Milwaukee and get people from every walk of life and I love it. Just depends

That wawa is ghetto as hell, I feel sorry for you. If you are working at the one on little creek or military highway, VB one is much nicer
