How do you tell a new partner that you're not on birth control?

I've been off birth control for about a year now. I'm single and although I have no plans on jumping in bed with anyone in the near future, I've been wondering how this topic should be brought up when I find someone new.

I try to only take medications when absolutely necessary and prefer to rely on natural remedies when at all possible. I first started taking the pill when I was 16 and still living at home. I only continued to take it because I felt it was something I HAD to do. I never felt like it was an acceptable choice to stop. After trying several different kinds and never really finding something I was truly comfortable with, I decided to stop. This is my body and I don't want to put extra c*** in it, I don't have to.

How do I explain this to a guy? I've tried to explain it before, but they just don't get it.
