I'm 28 years old and 9w5d pregnant with my first child. I'm not married and have only been with my boyfriend for a few months. Needless to say, this pregnancy was a surprise.

But I am happy about it. I've wanted a child for a long time and it never happened with my ex. I still can't believe I'm pregnant, even after seeing it on the ultrasound! The one thing still holding me back though is the idea of telling my family. My mom is the only one that knows. I'm not concerned about my extended family, but my dad and stepmom, my grandparents and my one uncle don't know yet and I'm dreading their reactions. My mom was only 19 when I was born but she and my father had been together for 5 years at the time and my grandfather still didn't talk to her the entire length of her pregnancy.

I'm not a child, but my family is very close (and very protective) and I'm not sure the best way to go about telling them. I know they're going to be really disappointed, especially my grandfather and uncle, and I really don't feel like dealing with the stress of all that. Any advice or suggestions would be really appreciated!
