Clomid even if regular periods and ovulating regularly?

Hi guys! Why do doctors prescribe clomid to people who ovulate regularly and have regular periods? Are there any side effects? Does it mess up with regular period cycle? Thanks!

I believe they prescribe it for superovulation (more eggs matured & released). More eggs = more opportunities for fertilization. I hear there are lots of short-term side effects (dizziness, moodiness, etc) but it's different for everyone. I haven't tried it (yet).

I'm on my 4th round of clomid and my cycles and ovulation are perfectly normal. There are side effects. The longer you take it the worst it can get. I get hot flashes, light sensitivity, moodiness, some nausea. But whatever works right?!?

It was prescribed to me due to a blocked tube after almost two years of trying. I ovulate fine. My doctor said it would give me a better chance to get and egg in the right tube. I got pregnant the first round. I didn't really notice any side effects and it didn't effect my cycle as I ovulated on time and got my bfp before my expected period. They also prescribe it for unexplained infertility.

I'm on my fourth round and the side effects are crazy.. My poor husband is hanging in there but one of the side effects is extreme irritability. My suggestion is to warn your other half 😈
