My friend has an issue !?

She sent me this message ...... "Have any mothers ever experienced their newborns gasping for air? To where their face turns red or you have to blow in their face to get them to breath? My son does this all the time and i have no idea why he does it. Mainly happens when i lay him down in his bassenett????"   Could anyone explain this issue she is having ?

My youngest brother (adopted) so he is only 2 now . He used to hold his breathe and stop breathing too but only when he cried . It was so scary . He would go blue . But there was nothing the doctor could do . Just had to watch him . He outgrew it .

My son had apnea,  he had a pneumogram sleep study done at the hospital when he was 5 weeks old.  He stopped breathing several times through the night and was put on a breathing monitor for 8 months.  It would alarm when he would stop breathing.  The apnea was caused by very serve acid reflux that eventually outgrew around 15 mos old.

My niece did that she had really bad acid reflex as a baby.

I had an acquaintance who's son would do that. It's like they hold their breath, freaked her out pretty bad. She saw his pediatrician and everything, and he said it's not uncommon, and there isn't anything they can do except just keep an eye on the baby. He was a newborn also. That was just his specific case though, they did all kinds of tests on him and nothing was physically wrong, he would just hold his breath and scare the hell out of his parents.
