You're not! I had the mirena for like three years, I NEVER had problems before it. After bleeding my guts out for 32 straight days, losing gobs of hair, I got a lovely cyst so big that it displaced my uterus. It burst and hemorrhaged for 12 hours before the bleeding stopped. Three days in the hospital. Worst pain ever. My OB said it was likely from the mirena. 
Now I have another burst cyst. I got my mirena out a few years ago...I will NEVER get it again.
