What do you think about pageants?

I just saw a show on TV called toddler's and tiaras and I saw all these little baby's dressed up like adults with tons of hairspray and even more make up. They have fake fingernails and get tanned.

In my opinion it's wrong to make children think they have to be the most beautiful. And it's even worse to let them think they are only beautiful if they are all fake. None of the kids look like they actually do when they are dressed and everything.

So what are your opinions?

Eurgh, they're disgusting. Why would you want to make your toddler look like a grown, sexually active woman? A lot of the outfits are skimpy and the makeup and tans make them look like hookers! Does no one remember jonbenet ramsey....?

I don't like them. I think it's wrong in most cases when girls are being bribed with sugar highs to do something they don't want to do. Who's prettier its basically teaching.

I hate them, it's making youg children particular girls think that the world judges you on nothing but looks, makes them think they need make up and crazy outfits to be beautiful. It's a disgrace. It doesn't teach team work or that beautiful is what's on the inside. They are just setting up children to be self conscious and have body issue all before they hit their teens and most of the time before they are even 5/6. And don't even get me started on how they are making these kids sexual object for the world to see.

I absolutely love them. If the child is all for it then why not! Just a bit of fun and honestly is harmless if done right. I was made to as a 6 year old to model and it was amazing, then worked up to pageantry. 
Even then my mum always said if I ever said I didn't want to do it she would let me quit as its my decision.

if my kid wanted to do it, i'd say let's go for it. but i wouldn't suggest it.

I wouldn't go as far as the tv shows. If my little girl wanted to try it out I wouldn't discourage her. I've never seen a toddler that needed makeup! They are already beautiful.

I hate that the mothers think it's cute when those kids are all sassy and disrespectful. It's not cute at all.

Hate those kid pageants, plain and simple. It's really sad.

Did you know they also make them wear fake teeth? Like, babies have baby teeth, why make them wear something that hurts their mouths?
