Birth control help!!

I really want to go on birth control not because I'm having sex but because I don't want my period, I just hate having it? My mom thinks I shouldn't go on the birth control just because of that. Should I or should I not go on birth control just to stop having my period? Also what kinda birth control should I go on for that?
