Anyone with alopecia areata?

I have had some bald patches due to alopecia that started a couple of years ago. Luckily I can conceal them. However they seem to be getting bigger. I hate to think I'll be bald at the end of this pregnancy. Anyone else ?

I had a huge bald patch in the back of my head that mostly grew back a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, Im not sure if it will fall out again with the pregnancy. Some women find that their hair grows back during pregnancy, but then falls out after birth. There isnt much choice for us before pregnancy other than topical steroids, so I imagine that we have less options while pregnant. Talk to your dermatologist if you begin to notice more hair fall. Otherwise, try not to worry!  Its hard, but stress may make it worse. Lets cross our fingers and hope our hair stays put.

I've had alopecia areata for about the past eight years. I must say that it has gotten much worse since I found out that I was pregnant in August. You can't get steroid injections or use rogaine while pregnant. Honestly, it really doesn't bother me too much anymore because I've dealt with it for so long. I don't want to stress about it because that never helps and it's not good for the baby. If you feel like you're losing too much for it to be concealed, look into wearing extensions. I'm happy that I'm not the only one going through this. We can all support each other 😊.

I was getting steroid shots in my scalp prior to pregnancy. Supposedly it is a safe to continue but I don't feel comfortable with that.

I'm hoping that since alopecia is an autoimmune condition, pregnancy will suppress the immune system enough to halt the alopecia. I think the stress is keeping the alopecia going in my case unfortunately

Not sure if I have it or not. But I have a bald spot as big as a quarter n a few smaller ones. Does alopecia itch?

I have a bald patch but mine isnt alopecia areata, mines from a ringworm, and taking forever to grown back,,,but ive heard that hormones can cause alopecia in some women and even get bigger until hormones balance out.  Ive heard some women have had success with steroid injections (when not pregnant), have u also had ur thyroid checked out?
