Ever reject a 3 hr glucose tolerance test?

I just had the one hour glucose test and failed. They want to now send me for the three hour test, and when I tried to decline, they told me the only alternative is to pick my finger twice a day to test my sugars. Um, no.

Thing is, this is my 4th pregnancy (27 weeks) and I know how this all works. Not once have I failed the 3 hr, not once have I had gestational diabetes. But the 3 hr makes me very sick, so I'm trying to avoid it.

Has anyone successfully avoided the 3 hr test? Did you have to do anything instead?

I failed my hour one this pregnancy as with past 2 but this time around I also failed my 3 hour and was told I have gestational diabetes this time around. It really doesn't matter if you have had it before could have it this time better safe then sorry I would recommend you go through with it.

Just because you've never had it, doesn't mean you can't have it now. It's important to know for sure. Do the test or pick your finger. It's for the health of your baby.

My uncle who is a doctor said there's a new test where an endocrinologist basically puts that junk in through IV and monitors you. I can't drink the stuff because I had bypass and sweet things make me I'll apart from having bad absorption. I'm currently doing the finger pricking 4x a day.  It's not bad and I'm scared of needles. Next week is my doctors appointment and I'm going to ask about endocrinologist test.

I've been thinking the same thing. I think all these tests are bs to begin with. Waiting for my results on one hour one. But my gf failed her one hour, refused the 3, and pricked her finger at home for a day or so and her blood sugar levels were so low. So they can't make you do anything. I was also told there's a 2 hour alternative, but I'm in your boat I'm not going back for 2 or 3 hour. Anxious to see if I need to battle with anyone.

I always refuse the tests. They are not mandatory, and the drinks are full of nasty stuff. It is also common to have false positives.

I refused the glucose test altogether with my first pregnancy and plan to with this one also. I've gained around 10 lbs at 27 weeks and barely get hungry ever and have no increased thirst or anything. Last time I got blood drawn the lady stuck me about 5 times and I passed out and projectile vomited twice. I think I'll pass on the 3hr version of that hell.

I opted out of the one hour and the three hour. I just checked my blood sugar at home. Four finger pricks a day for three days. I liked it (not the pokes) because I could really see what affected me the most. I feel like it gave me a more accurate picture and has made it easier to make some small adjustments to ensure I stay healthy for the next 12 weeks. It wasn't fun but it was worth it to me.

I had gestation diabetes with my 1st pregnancy and it went away after birth. I expected it to return with my 2nd & 3rd pregnancies but I was fortunate that it did not. Now I'm sitting here waiting for the 1 hour with my 4th pregnancy & I have a weird feeling that I'm going to fail it, especially since my OB reminded me how much weight I've put on but I didn't really think that 11lbs in 13 weeks was a huge jump. Blah 😔 wish me luck

I'm doing the test.  I was told by my nurse to fast after midnight.  So I'm going first thing in the am. I heard yesterday it wasn't all that bad.
