Moms and birth control

So I'm 20 and I've never talked to my parents about boys! Like they have no idea I'm sexually active!!! I am in the process of meeting with a doctor to choose my birth control but I keep wondering if I should tell my mom about it? Is it necessary? Or is it ok to keep my sexual life private? Also I am under their insurance plan, would my parents find out once I go through these procedures? Or is this information only disclosed at the doctor visits?
