What is considered a big baby?

At what size is your baby considered big?
I've even told that 7 pounds is average but out of my 6 babies, only 2 of them were in the 7 pound range. 
Both coming in at 7 lb 14 oz. the rest, we're all 8 lb plus. 
I keep seeing posts of newborns born at 5 and 6 pounds, and people commenting how big those babies were.
Is my perception weird? Or do I just have GINORMUS babies...???

Babies 5-6 pounds are not the norm. I can't believe women thought these babies were "big". Lol. These women must have been early to have such small babies. Or it could have to do with genetics, diet, smoking, who knows. But yeah I'm pretty sure 7-8 pounds is average for American women. We have excellent prenatal care, we take our vitamins, drink milk, and we eat a pretty wide variety of stuff, generally. I'm a small person, 5'1, but my son was 8lb6oz, I wasn't surprised though because I was 9lb at birth and my sister was 8lb12 at birth, and her daughter was 8lb8 at birth.

My first dtr was 8lbs4oz and the nurses kept exclaiming how big she was.. My sisters babies were 7lbs9oz and 7lbs11oz and nobody said a word lol

I'm not sure but I was 9 lb 10 oz. my brother was 10 lb 12 oz. and my sister was 8 lb 10 oz so I would say we where all huge!! I just hope I don't have a big baby like we all where. I would be glad will a 7 lber I think that's a good weight :)

My moms kids were all between 9 and 11lbs. My youngest sibling was 9lbs3oz and oldest was 10lbs13oz mom had all 5 natrually.

I consider those big.

My littles I consider average/slightly below on weight older was 7lb8oz and newest was 6lb13oz. I'm fairly thankful my kiddos weight followed my grandma not my mother haha.

Both my boys were 7lbs 11oz my doctor said between 6 & 8lbs is average anything over 8lbs is considered a big baby in her eyes lol

My son was 9lbs 11oz but his size was never a problem during birth, pushing him out went very smoothly.

My brother on the other hand was 13lbs when he was born and that is far too big in my opinion Lol

Just depends on what your body is capable of too. I did not have big babies, numerically. They were 7lbs 4oz, 7lbs 12oz, and 7lbs 0oz. But my son (7lbs 12 oz, born at 39 weeks) came out of the birth canal and got his shoulder stuck behind my pubic bone and the doctor had to be extremely careful trying to get him out- and my doctor immediately told me "you CAN'T have a baby bigger than this." I later learned my son had an actual medics complication called shoulder dystocia and could have had a broken collarbone and been paralyzed for life if the doctor had made any small errors getting him out. Since it is know to reoccur with deliveries of children born after, I now have to be induced at 38 weeks with any other births, so that my babies don't get big enough to run the risk of getting stuck and being paralyzed. So for me, and for my body, anything over 7.5lbs is too big of a baby and can be dangerous.
