First Cycle of IUI - Tips??

I am very nervous, we will be beginning our first ever IUI with clomid 100mg cycle starting next week. We have been trying for 19 months, had three rounds of 50mg clomid with no luck. I know what the steps are, but I am not fully feeling prepared for the process as I don't really know what to expect. Plus that 10% probability of it working next to the price is making me sick after so much disappointment already. Any tips for the new comer? Does IUI hurt at all? Any tips on optimizing hubby's sperm for collection? What were results from your IUI's? Even some reassuring support is welcome. Thank you for taking the time to share your stories and tips with me.

I had my first last month and know the feeling well.... I am doing my second IUI on Thursday....
It doesn't hurt just a little uncomfortable just like a Pap smear... Do yours of a favor and don't test early! I did last months for got faints bc of the trigger and it got my hopes up.... Good luck to you! Wh n ar you doing your IUI?

Just an update to all, we didn't end up going through with IUI because my AMH test results came back with bad news, I have a very low egg reserve. While finally getting answers to our infertility (trying for 19 months), we are very sad to hear that conceiving on our own ever will be very unlikely. The dr has told us they advise against IUI for us because the chances of it working for us is slim to none. We are being bumped up to IVF. This was something we were massively trying to avoid. Now we are in the process of trying to find the money for IVF, which isn't going well since our debt-to-income ratio isn't good and we are in the middle class bracket making our "financial need" out of the usual low income bracket. We are following some leads and have decided to go with IVF if we can get to where we can afford it. We're tightening the belt on bills, lowering those where ever we can, and selling my brand new boat :(
Infertility really has a way of sucking the joy out of many joys in life. We're also exploring adoption since eventually we'll have to go that route for one baby or another. Which I'm told average costs are $30,000. I just want to scream, why to those who want it most and just can't get knocked up like everybody else in three months or so have to go broke to build a family!!! My most basic function of my body has failed me and I'm not rich enough to use modern medicine or adopt a baby that needs a family. Needless to say, I'm crushed and super depressed. 
My heart goes out to each and every one of you, I wish you better success than us. My advice, get all your tests done early and make sure those blood tests include your AMH levels. Hugs 💜

The actual IUI is just some cramping not too bad....if you have had an HSG then it is nowhere near as bad!

Best of luck as you begin your first cycle. It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be at first. I went through two injectable (gonal-f and Ovidril) and cycle monitoring cycles along with IUI. It was successful the second cycle.

I would suggest getting yourself into a relaxed frame of mind. Do something that calms you... meditation, counseling and daily easy-going exercise worked for me :) I also stopped doing bbt, checking other signs and just trusted that the clinic would look after that stuff.

Are they monitoring your follicle growth with ultrasounds/blood tests? If so ask how the procedures go... There was always quite a line where I had mine done so I had to get there early.

As for your husband, make sure he's taking a good quality multivitamin. My husband also took Vitamin D and Co-Q 10.

I took a good quality prenatal, Co-Q 10 (400 units), Vitamin D, and an Omega 3 supplement.

My first IUI didn't hurt at all, the second one was uncomfortable (but worked!) Best of luck to you as you begin the process.

Aww good luck to u! Im doing clomid 50mg/triger shot IUI in 2 weeks. Im nervous but excited. Hope it works on 1st try for us both!! 😊💖
