Early heartbeat?

I went to my doctor for my first baby appt at 9 weeks and 4 days and they didn't do a ultrasound but they did a Doppler. The doctor said that she wouldn't be able to hear the heartbeat that early but then found it with ease. She then said that we need to schedule an ultrasound so that we can get an exact date. Is that a normal thing that happens ?

Yes. That's how my doctor did it. Did a Pap smear, talked to me, checked for the heartbeat and then I was actually able to schedule an ultrasound for the next day :)

could mean your further along than what you originally thought or just that your baby has a very strong heart rate.  Either way a heart beat is fantastic! 😀

I heard our nuggets heart beat at 7 weeks!!! The most amazing sound! Made me cry!

I heard mine at 6w1d! Transvaginal u/s though so I guess that's more sensitive.

I heard the heartbeat at 6 weeks. My doctor said some women have a heartbeat as early as 5 weeks.
