Pacifier for a newborn is it safe?!

When is the safest or best time to give a baby a paficier? Since I'm not lactating just yet.

alot of times the hospitals have them n they give them to the baby,I believe in using pacifiers right before I put my baby down to sleep, it can help reduce the risk of sids because ur baby isn't in such a deep sleep

A lactation consultant, like my mom, would say don't use them. Sparingly as they get older. Hospitals that are defined as baby friendly do not provide or sell pacifiers.
