Age difference of 17 and 21 almost 22?

Whats your opinion on this age difference? I'm 17, my birthday is next summer and he is 21, 22 this Halloween! As of right now we are just talking but we like each other a lot!!(:

I dated someone who was 17 when I was just turning 21, but we had been friends for a really long time.  It's fine,  but be careful about the law,  it's dumb but he could still go to jail (if that applies to your state)

It depends on maturity level, laws (obviously) and also his commitment to having an open relationship with your parents, too. It may not seem like too big of a deal, but each year from 16-24ish, you gain a TON of life experience. Even though it doesn't seem like much of an age gap, put it into perspective. He is old enough to have graduated college, while you're the age of about a senior in high school who hasn't graduated yet. I personally don't see a problem, but it varies relationship to relationship. My sister and her husband started dating at 14 and 17, but our families were very close. And at some points, she wouldn't tell people their age gap out of embarrassment. But they were on the same maturity level and were perfect for each other. They were a rare case. But again, each relationship and individuals are different. He's out taking care of himself already and you are most likely living with your parents. He's got a lot of experience on you.
