Would you date a person with self harm scars?

I have them all over my thighs and when my (now) husband and I started dating I was still depressed and he would kiss them and rub his hands over them. He's never made me feel like a monster for having them and a relationship shouldn't be based off of what has happened to that person mentally (or this case physically). I have gotten a tattoo under a group of scars to distract from them on one leg.

I have self-harm scars covering me. I've gotten a lot of the bad ones covered with tattoos, but if someone wouldn't date me based on my past and what I did to deal with my emotional pain as a teenager, then I wouldn't want to date them either.

I have them all over my body. And I used to be so ashamed of them. But now, I honestly forget they are there. My fiancé loves me for who I am. He gets nervous sometimes. Especially now that I'm pregnant and my emotions are up a wall. Even though that was 6 years ago and a while before we met, he still is very protective over the subject and always asks me if I'm okay. I love him. Because he doesn't understand, and I don't want him to ever know that kind of hopelessness, but he at least tries. And he is always there when I want to talk. ❤️❤️

Absolutely!! My previous boyfriend had them all over and its what I feel we connected with and opened us up to knowing everything about each other. I have some but luckily after 10+ years they have faded, but to remind myself of how times got low never to give up I got tattooed over my worst scars. I used to be ashamed of then but now they are a part of who I was and am.

My ex had them. He had a rough past and we helped each other through a lot. We were together off and on for 3 years, though the way we ended wasn't pretty. Almost 5 years later we are friends and I'm very proud of how far he's come!! We were young and clueless about a lot when we were together. Amazing what a few years can change!!

I have horrible scars that litter my arms n legs. Ive never had a problem with dating n i ask my boyfriend of 6 years if they bother him because sometimes he'll run his fingers against the bigger ones n look at them n he says he doesnt even notice them n when he does it just makes him sad that i felt so horrible that i hurt something 'so perfect' n he wishes he could take it all away.
