Is having sex before ovulation really better than during?

Interesting convo i had with a friend today about her journey as well as mine. She had a sono and was told that she is close to ovulation (obviously they can not see the exact moment of). But she mentioned to my friend she should have had sex the day before. That the sperm has to already be up there waiting for the egg.

If thats the case then tracking opks is just a waste of time because u still may miss it

You ovulate 12-36 hours after you get positive opk. So you actually get positive before you ovulate

I was testing and as I saw the line getting darker each day, we had sex. I had also heard it's beneficial to have sex the day before to have the sperm waiting for the egg to release.  In that week we had sex every other day. We got pregnant our first month trying.

We bD every day at night before bed during my fertility window. I got BFP this month. We switched from everyother to every day which was the biggest change from the last few months.

I was reading many testimonials about women and the life span of their egg. I read one case in particular about a girl who had been trying to have a baby for over a yr. After trying everything possible she started tracking her OV via ultrasound by her doctor and they came to the conclusion that her egg only lives 3hrs. So by her waiting To BD on her OV day she only had a gap of 3hrs for her husband sperm to reach the egg on time not 12 or 24hrs... after knowing that she only OV for 3 hrs she tried BD before OV the following month and successfully became pregnant 2 months later after trying for over a yr... so not all of us OV for 12 to 24hrs... conclusion do the BD at least a day before OV..

I was told to start when af ends. This month we did every other day from cd 10 on. Ill find out next week if that worked!

Sex every other day? My ob told me the same thing. I don't know when i supposed to start having sex every other day.  Too confuse for me.
