My midwife said they will shrink and possibly go away after recovery from labor. They are swollen because of our extra blood supply and pressure down there. She said I can soak in the tub to soothe them and use over the counter topical treatments but just to wait and see how they are after delivery. I asked if they could be removed at time of delivery and she said no that there is already so much blood loss. She said if I was still concerned to follow up with a Gi Dr😕

I found the only thing that helped mine were tucks pads. You can even fold them and leave them in place for a while. The prep H made things worse it seemed. I had them really bad and it hurt to walk or even sit down. Also, get wet wipes that are flushable. They will help clean better and are easier on you.

Don't wipe with toilet paper – either use a peri bottle to spray and then just dab, or use the tucks wipes that you can buy at the pharmacy. They will go away on their own – you can also soak in a sitz bath or in the bathtub, do not use any soap but you can look up herbs that you can use in the bath or possibly Epsom salt. I would also be taking Colace or a stool softener – not anything like Ex-Lax which will transfer in your milk – so that when you do go it is easy. And yes they will go away :-)
