I'm 35 weeks and 3 days, is that too soon to deliver?

I am 35 weeks and 3 days. I am contracting like a champ, I am 1 cm dialated and 50% effaced. Is it too soon to have baby; doctor wants to stop labor... or would it be safe to deliver on baby's time?

Early term and late preterm babies aren't quite done being built yet. They'll probably be okay, probably won't need too much time in the NICU , probably will only have some problems like acid reflux and maybe a hard time with breathing while eating, and their brains aren't developed all the way yet. So, baby will probably be "fine" but not as healthy as if they had waited a couple more weeks. Also, it might not be baby who wants to be born now.

I had my son at 36 weeks and he was 4lbs 7oz. He just couldn't hold his body temperature for a few days and was tube fed at home for a month.

My sister just had her baby at 34 wks on 10/15/15. She was dilated 2 cm the day before. Doctors tries to stop the labor. They gave her a pill & 2 shots. It still didn't work. They couldn't stop it. Her first pregnancy she gave birth at 36 weeks. I say it all depends on the health of the baby. She had a baby boy. He was born at 5 lbs & 11 oz. He stayed 2 days in the NICU. Then he came home.

All babies develop differently. I had my daughter 6 weeks early and she was fine 7 days in nicu for antibiotics otherwise she'd have been there only 3 days because she was eating gaining weight and breathing on her own. I had steroid injections for her lungs. My sister had her son 3 weeks and 3 days early and he was in nicu for almost 2 weeks to help with his breathing. And a girl I worked with had a little girl 6 weeks early she never went to nicu she was in the hospital only 3 days to make sure she gained weight because she was only 4 lbs but was a-ok. So really just depends on your baby

Your baby at this point would have probably a 99% chance of being a-okay and a small nicu stay. Full term is considered 37 weeks by most, so I imagine baby will be just fine unless other complications arise.

I went into labour with my third at 30 weeks. Baby was fine, stayed in scbu for a few weeks for obs, but otherwise was perfectly fine

It is safe however you might have a short nicu stay though keep baking little one !
