Should I be induced?

Question

My due date is December 26th, and I want to ask my doctor to be induced for a few reasons: (I would be induced the 20th, or later.  So It would only be 6 days earlier. I would be about 39 weeks and 1ish day)
1. I was 10lbs when I was born and my brother and sister were both almost 10lbs, it runs on my fathers side of the family. And my baby's father was 9lbs so I'm guessing our baby is going to be big. And I was measuring ahead at a couple of my ultrasounds. 
2. I want him to be here before Christmas
What are you opinions?

Studies show now that babies fare better when labor initiates spontaneously, unless there is a valid medical reason to intervene. Doctors really shouldn't be doing elective inductions because evidence suggests it is not what is best for mom or baby. That said, it is your delivery, and there are plenty of doctors that will jump at the chance to schedule your birth to be more convenient for them.

DONT DO IT!!! Induction sucks so much. I had fully natural then an induction on my second. My recovery was much better the first time around. Your body was made to do what it needs to do, don't mess with the process unless you have a major medical issue.

do what makes you happy ☺️ im also going to be induced at 39 weeks because i was 10lbs & my hubby was also 10lbs my daughter was almost 9lbs & my doc is already saying that im measuring bigger that i will probably have a big baby so i told her i wanted to be induced at 39 weeks & she is going to do it ☺️

Induction is meant to be done only when your doctor deems it medically necessary. It's not an elective procedure.

If this is your first baby I would guess it's EXTREMELY unlikely your doctor will induce you for those reasons. They usually only will induce if it's medically necessary or if your high risk.

Where I live, doctors no longer induce unless medically necessary. They only induce if you go 1+ weeks past your due date as long as you have no other medical problems. I've been measuring 2 weeks ahead consistently and am due 12/22. I will not be induced unless dr feels I need it.

I was induced with my first one and it was awful. Ended in emergency c section. Read up on it before you elect to do that to yourself. Some people are fine. But, many have bad experiences like myself.

I am due Chridtmas Day and talked to my doctor last week about being induced before Christmas. He agreed if I haven't gone into labor on my own that we could induce on the 21st.  I have given birth 5 times and I only went into labor on my own with two of them. One natural labor with my firstborn son and he was 9.5 lbs with shoulder distocia which resulted in a broken clavicle. One of my inductions was 10 days early and she weighed 8.5 lbs and having done both I'm not sure if I recall much difference. Labor  Pain is pain with natural or induced.  ;-)

I've heard that induction is unlikely to go well unless your body is ready. I'd only consider it if I was overdue, but it seems best to avoid it
