Is it okay to dress kids up scary for Halloween?

I really want my toddler to be Gage from pet cemetery for Halloween but I don't want the whole bad parent label. For some reason people wants kids to be little cute things for Halloween like if the scary it will ruin there innocence..

Both my kids (5&3) ASKED to be Jack Skellington for Halloween this year, I was excited about it as we all love that movie and i handmade their costumes! 
Yes, they may scare a few people but that's the whole point of halloween! I love that they wanted to be slightly scary this year!

With the exception of his first 2 halloweens, I've always allowed him to choose his own costume. Our only "rule" is no repeat costumes. So far, he hasn't chose anything scsry, but if he did, I'd totally support his decision.

My son is 7 and wanted to be the ghost face killer from Scream. I let him choose his own costume. Who cares what other parents think. They can raise their kids the way they want and you raise yours the way you want.

I dressed up my daughter as chuckie last year she was 2. I gave no fucks lol excuse my language but we don't get many years to have fun with their costumes since once they hit a certain age they pick. This year she will be a zombie and I go out with the face painting and I spray color her hair. It me your child your memories. Don't give a care to what others think make your child's memories unique.

Dress your kid up as whatever you want. It's Halloween, it's supposed to be scary! My my step son, and son were younger, my husband and I dressed them up as whatever we wanted. Now that they're 6 and 4, they wanna choose, and that's fine. Have fun with it before your kid starts choosing his own costume. I'm 10 weeks pregnant, and my baby will be around 5-6 months old next Halloween, and you better believe I'll be doing something scary!
