Missed period- just started new diet/exercise regimen

I am officially 7 days late for my period.  Had a little spotting about 10 days ago for 4 days.  Then nothing.  I took a pregnancy test on Wednesday which was negative.  I just started a new calorie counting diet and walking 4-5 miles per day (was previously almost totally sedentary).  Could this explain it?  Or should I take another test in a few days?
