Washing hair before going out ?

Do you guys belive in its bad to shower/wash your hair before going out in the fall and winter . Maybe it's just beliefs but my mom and some of my family including my mother in law believe that it's bad like you can catch a bad cold or even pneumonia.  I remember taking a shower early and washing my hair in the morning before going to an appointment and it was in December it was very cold and my mil told me not to that I should of either waited till it dried or done after coming home . Anyway do you guys believe this or is it just a myth/belief?

I learned my lesson. Never will I go out with wet hair. My hair froze, I was playing with my hair thought it was cool and it actually broke my hair.

The only negative thing to doing so is your hair can freeze. It's unlikely to affect your body temp for hypothermia and the like unless you're going to be outside for a prolonged time with wet/frozen hair. Luckily there's a solution...hairdryers. Or wash your hair earlier. Or don't hang around outside forever before getting in the car, walking to the next building, etc, where your hair will get a chance to dry.

Why don't you just blow dry your hair before going out in the cold so you don't have to worry about stuff like that

It's a wives tale. Lol. It makes you more susceptible to catching things when your body temperature is lower, but if you are bundled up properly it shouldn't be a problem. When your nose starts running from cold, that's a sign that your core temperature is low enough to contract an illness if you come into contact with it.

I had my hair freeze many days in the winter. I blow dry now, but freezing hair never made me sick.

I think it's a myth, but I also know that your hair being cold can make your body temp chillier and that isn't so good for you.

It's just an old wives tale. Sickness is caused by viruses or bacteria, not coldness. If it were true, I'd always be sick. My hair is long, thick, & curly and literally takes all day to dry.

my mom always tells me that I'm gonna get sick when I do it. But, I'm a college student and I have classes in the morning. And I usually take my showers in the mornings. I wash my hair every other day, but my hair is soooooo thick it literally takes practically all day for it to dry naturally, and I don't like blow drying my hair. Because it just makes it have this weird rough texture and makes it frizzy.
