Are mobiles worth it?

I am a ftm and am baffled at how expensive everything is. Trying to save in some areas and am wondering if the music mobiles are worth it? The one that goes with the bedding I got is $60.  Thanks!

Babies aren't really interested in the pretty mobiles. They can't see well enough yet to care. They sometimes find the high contrast ones (black and white shapes) interesting but I won't even buy one of those.

It's just decorating my 3 children didn't use one, well my first did I got it from a yard sale lol

Nope. We had one and the thing was pointless. We didn't have if with dd1 and dd2, but got one as a gift for dd3. She never looked at the thing. I always have securely taped laminated black and white art (simple designs with bold lines/shapes)  around in their beds, to help strengthen their eyes. They've always loved to look at those!

My first didn't use/like it at all. But my second LOVED his, would smile at it for ever! But I got it for super cheap, don't worry about spending a lot of money on one.

I personally don't like them. I had one with my first and the little musiclessons him awake rather than put him to sleep. I was given one at my babyshower yesterday but I didn't attach the music box, just the dangling toys. Perhaps it'll serve as a distraction as she learns to self soothe but never again will I use the music.

Are mobiles worth it?
