I want to be a mum! But is it too early and am I too young??

Question

So I'm 17 and my so (fiancé) and I want to start a family soon but I am on the pill due to the fact that I'm on meds for my skin! But I really want to be a mum and I get so upset when I see other people especially when it's my friends that are pregnant and here's me with no little one to look after! 
It's been my dream to be a mum since I was 13 and I knew I had to wait until I was old enough and I had a job to support the baby and myself!

Any advice from anyone would be super helpful!

Do you have a career? Some kind of education to get you beyond minimum wage?A home? Cars? A bit of savings to cover cost of baby? Pay all your own bills and expenses? If no, then no matter what age now is not the right time.

Well, make sure you finish school and figure out your finances. Age isn't the important factor in who is ready to be a mom, but you have to understand that you lose your "me" time. Are you excited about being thrown up on at three am? And four? And getting your hair pulled accidentally and having everything be a mess? And never sleeping more than a couple hours in a row? Getting teeth marks in all your favorite things or drool all over your phone? Or just about the cute parts and the easy parts. Do you know how you'd pay for a baby? Just make sure you plan it all out and think of what you'd do if things don't work out perfectly, where the money will come from, who will watch the baby, that kind of thing. And like I said, make sure you finish school first.

You're way too young. My niece thought she was grown and wanted kids @ your age then she got pregnant @ 19 with no job and her BF didn't have a job either. Five years later they have 4 kids and on welfare and none of them works. She's unhappy and stuck while all her friends just graduated from college. She's always asking a family meme we for money (for diaper etc) or to watch her kids because she's so tired. Trust me, you are not ready for a kid. Be a normal teenager cus you can't rewind your life.

I think every woman (or most) dream of being a mum no matter what age we are. Personally I waited until I was married and had been with my partner for 6 years. Until I met him I never found someone I wanted kids with. The big questions to ask yourself are can you financially support a child, are you in a loving relationship and are you ready to devote your life to someone. I'm glad I waited to have kids, but that's my choice. I would of been too young at 17 but that doesn't mean others are. Personally I'd wait and enjoy life without kids for awhile, going out with friends, not having to be responsible for someone, being able to go to university or change jobs to find what you love. There is plenty of time to have kids as your young.

I'm a first time mom at age 31. I'm very happy I waited as I was able to get a college degree, and establish a career for me and my family. There's no need to rush and you'll be happy you waited if you decide to. You're young, so make the best of it!

I've wanted to be a mom since I was very young too but it's important to wait until you have all of your ducks in a row so you can have that happy life with your baby you're dreaming of. I wanted to have a stable job (with good maternity leave), to be married (it's not cheap getting married!) and a nice house before I brought a baby into the world. I knew I didn't want to struggle financially and I wanted to enjoy my early 20's being carefree with friends. Having a baby that young adds so much stress (financially, etc.) and you will change so much in your 20's finding yourself. Don't rush something like that, you will have plenty of time to have a baby. I worked at a daycare when I was your age and that was my "baby fix".

Along with what everyone says, I will also make sure you're in a position to take care of  a child on your own cuz I've seen so many stories where the boyfriend end up leaving during the pregnancy.l or cheating on them and what not especially if he's a young guy as well.. You're so young and having a child is a lot of responsibilities and time consuming. I would wait until you feel secure enough first, at least finish school and all

So this is my financial situation; I have a traineeship that is almost up and I can go get a job at anytime now and have a decent amount of moment coming from my end and my fiancé starts his apprenticeship in January! 
I'm out of school and want to study part time around working and have a family all at the same time! I know I can raise a child I've helped do it before and I have a great support network! 
But I don't know what others are going to think of me especially my older sister as she was supposed to get married and have kids before me but she's taking too long for my liking!!

Sounds a little young. If your gut is telling u this is what u want the most and it will make your happiness id say yes go for it. But finances are deff something u need to think of. As having a baby/child does not come cheap at all. Having your education so u can get a better paid job is deff something id consider first aswell. As trying to get your education with a child also isnt easy. And make sure to that you are ready to give up your free time. You are young you still have alot to experience. Alot of partying to do etc. so deff make sure ur willing to give up freedom aswell. As thats that out the window for the most part. Lol. But good luck with whatever u decide is best for you. Im sure you will do great whatever u choose! :-)

I think the problem is maybe less your age but rather your and your boyfriends lack of preparedness for the situation. Will you be able to support yourself and the baby? Are you mature enough to handle the responsibility? At 17 I really don't think I was mature enough to be a mom. You may think it's what you want, but you can't take it back once it happens. Would it be fair to your child to grow up in a home where he/she might not be supported completely just because you wanted to be a mom right then? What things would you have you give up now/in the future because of the child? Ultimately make the best decision for the child.
