I've been with my partner for 8-9 months, we are on the verge of being engaged, and I'm moving in with him next year. He lives in the centre of Australia (that's where he is based) and I live in Victoria, which is 25 hours drive apart and 2.5 hour plane flight. We Skype a lot, and I even be sweet by sending romantic love letters sometimes. My mum adores him, but has massive issues with me marrying him and moving in with him because she thinks it will be hard to do and that we will end up breaking up. (She's in denial and depression about her own marriage break up) and she's pissed that I'll move back to the states with my SO when his term finishes here in Australia. She's massively taking it out on me, and has developed severe chest pain (anxiety/panic attacks) because of it and has no problem openly blaming me for them.

So how does everybody else cope with military relationships?
