Cloth diapers?

I just used Huggies with my first baby but considering cloth diapering this time. Anyone have any advice, thoughts, recommendations, etc? I'm totally new to it. Thanks!

Hi! I cloth diapered my oldest and plan on going that route again. We used pre folds and covers until she was about 12 pounds, then we used the bumgenius 4.0 s. I recommend getting at least 18 diapers, that way you aren't always doing laundry.  Wash in a cloth diaper safe detergent, with no scent.

My SO and I are planning on using cloth diapers with my first due in April. According to the research financially they will save us like at least $1500 on disposable diapers which is a huge win for us since we are on a strict budget. Love cloth. I hate disposables. Way cheaper and really not daunting to tackle laundry. You RARELY have blow outs. Whenever my first was in a disposable and pooped, she constantly blew out of it. Don't over think the cloth. Prefolds are really not scary and a snappi is a must. Bit be sure to get a variety of styles. You may be surprised by what you like. I love pockets and have them in my diaper bag for the convenience out and about, like a disposable offers. I tend to use prefolds at home. Rashes are really not bad with coconut oil/YL melaluca for the rash cream. She ended up only getting rashes from disposables and the wipe solutions as we tend to use cloth wipes and water.

We'll be cloth diapering! I'll be making most of ours mysel but Pinterest has a lot of very helpful links and information. Watching YouTube videos also helped my wife understand more about cloth diapers and now she's so excited for our little one to get here to start using them

I nannied a little girl who was in cloth diapers and I HATED it!! I have nothing positive to say about them.  But that's my opinion and I don't bash anyone who does it, to each is own :)

I use cloth diapers and I love them. There is, of course, laundry, maintenance, and at times troubleshooting, but I have saved hundreds of dollars if not thousands. My son also had salmonella for about a week when he was 11 months old. We are talking every single diaper was diarrhea. And not one single blowout. He is now 17 months old and I've had probably 3 escaped turds (elastic needs to be replaced on the leg hole), and he may leak at night if he sleeps longer than 13 hours. Diaper rash is extremely rare and usually caused by something other than the wetness (like a yeast infection). 
There are a lot of different brands, styles, care methods, etc. It can be hard to find what is right for you. But once you find what works, you are on your way and I love that all that money stays in my pocket! Feel free to ask me about what I use, I'm happy to give details!

Interested. My mother in law said she used cloth diapers on all her kids. She said when they were dirty she filled and ice cream bucket with water & vinegar and put them in the bucket as they were dirty and then dumped the bucket and washed them all at once. Any easier solutions or better ways of cleaning/laundering them?
