Is chivalry dead?

This is a misunderstanding of the term chivalry. We've romanticized the term in the past century to the point where its meaning is inaccurate. It's not about holding doors or picking up the restaurant tab or how you treat your woman at all. It's a code of honor in an effort to achieve and maintain knighthood. It's quite a gruesome and violent code, actually. 
   
Oh, and your options don't make much sense either. How is being a powerful and/or equal-to-your-partner woman mutually exclusive from him providing for your family/relationship? It's not.

I don't think that the modern notion of chivalry, and feminism are mutually exclusive. As an example my partner would often go out of his way to pick me up from work so I didn't have to ride the bus. I had a professional job, and didn't need him to because I'm a woman, but I appreciated that he would do that for me. It was simply a way to show he cared. To me that's chivalrous.

It depends on what you define as chivalry. I have no problems with someone holding a door for me or offering to help me with something that I'm not physically strong enough to do. However if that means that I'm not considered an equal in the relationship because of those things then they can stick it! There needs to be equality in my relationship.

I don't believe it's dead. It's alive and well. I don't belive it is gender based. I think a woman can be just as chivalrous as a man. I believe it about watching out for each other. :-)

Not for my husband. Together 5.5 years, married for 3, he still holds open the door for me and treats me like a Lady. I wouldn't have it any other way.

There is a man being respecful and opening a door or pulling a chair, like I as a female would do for any other person and the. There is a man thinking he is entitled to opening doors and thinking it emasculates him if a women opens a door, respect turns into an inflated ego once people start thinking that they're entitled to something.
