Declining medication?

Can you decline medication for GD? I had to take insulin and metformin with my last pregnancy and was induced at 38 weeks. This time I don't want anything to do with medication or induction. Can I decline?

That can seriously harm your baby if you can't keep your numbers down. They don't give everyone metformin and insulin, if you had to have it last time it's because you weren't able to control your GD with diet alone, which is often unavoidable no matter how hard you try. If you can't keep your numbers down you need to take the medication, they don't give them to you for no reason. They help keep your baby healthy. And inducing at 38 or 39 weeks is being shown to be safest for GD babies.

Most people can control it with just diet. My diet is great all day, but my problem is fasting was too high, even if I had a light dinner. so I do take insulin at night. But that's safer than pills.

I declined and controlled with diet alone. Metformin made me so sick. Doctor kept track of my sugar levels very close and made sure it was truly under control. If I couldn't control with diet alonebi would have had to take it.
