Are you getting the flu shot?

I've never had a flu shot so I'm a little nervous to get one! I know they say pregnant women should get them.

Anyone who says they got the "flu" from the shot version is lying. It's a dead virus meaning it's not alive so all it does is cause an immune response but can't actively give you the flu. The nasal spray is a different story it's a live flu vaccination. Single dose flu vaccinations that the pharmacy I work at is are void of preservatives.  Being pregnant supresses your immune system and getting the flu is much easier and much more hazardous to you and especially your baby. If you can manage to get the quadrivalent flu shot (protects you against 4 strains of flu) over the regular one (protects you against 3 strains) We reccomend to all our patients. Keep in mind that no medication, including vaccines, are going to ever claim to be category a.  that's purely from a business point because If there was ever a possibility there was some negative fetal developmental side effect and they claimed it to be a category a medication. They would be legally liable. So from a business stand point every drug will forever be a category b; even if it has a long history of being healthy. Also if you consider the fact that fetal and pregnancy studies on humans is strictly banned there's another reason why it's impossible to truly identify a category a pharmaceutical or vaccine. Disagree or agree with me but this is two research projects on the design of drugs going through fda approval and working in a pharmacy has taught me.  Two degrees in chemistry and working toward my pharm.d.  So my opinion is pretty set on my experience.

I have never gotten it and will be opting out during this pregnancy as well. I did the Tdap shot though.

Definitely won't be getting it with this pregnancy, didn't get it with my first two pregnancies and turned out fine.. After seeing my kids get sick and end up in the hospital from their first/last flu shot I have never gotten it for them again..

Yes I had it done last week. It's was painless as it is the new way of giving it called introderma flu shot. My doctor recommended it so if it protects me and the baby I'm all for it.

I get really ill every time I have an immunisation so I opted not to. I'm generally not a sick person anyway and I absolutely hate. Wedges

I typically do....but have never while pregnant. I had my kids and hubby  get theirs and make them wash hands as soon as they walk in the house. It hasn't even been a year since my last one so I have a few weeks while I think about it. My Dr hasn't mentioned it, but I will probably ask next visit.

I just got mine yesterday. My arm is a little sore, but that's WAY better than the flu or bad things happening to my baby.
