Can people in relationships be "just friends" with the opposite sex? Should they be able to Facebook message and text them?

I'm just wondering how to handle this situation. Should guys and girls be able to be friends and talk and chat if they are in a relationship?  Tell me what you think!!!

I'm Bi. If straight people can't have friendships with people of the opposite sex/gender because sex might get in the way, by extension that means I can't have friendship with anyone because I might be attracted to them, and/or want sex for them completely ruining the friendship.

Guess I'm in for a pretty lonely life.

I think it is fine as long as you aren't keeping secrets. Any funny business like hiding or deleting messages etc are red flags.. But an occasional text, message or call is totally fine!

I think texting and messaging is fine. I have a couple of guy coworkers that I message with regularly. Sometimes venting about work, or sometimes just chatting about a show that we both watch or something. Would I hang out with them one on one, no. Group settings, fine. You have to have trust.

Of course they can. If you can't trust your spouse to have friends, then you shouldn't be with them. My husband and I both have friends of the opposite sex and neither one of us cares.

I have a couple guy friends that have been in my life long before  husband.  And we like photos,  message comment! And hang out a (with out my husband  around) he has girls that like his photos,  comment  ect. But the never hang out. That would a little suspicious for that to all of a sudden happen.

You should be allowed to have friends while being in a relationship. That's real fucking controlling if your partner won't allow you to make friends with the opposite sex.

I do trust my boyfriend!  And I do let him have friends that are girls. We was having a discussion on it this morning about a particular girl and wanted to know what others thought. Thanks for the responses!
