IMPLANT: Was your experience with the implant positive or negative?

Question

I'm currently 18 and I've been seriously considering getting the implant for the first time but all I've been seeing is horror stories including extremely irregular/long periods as well significant affects on moods/mental health and a few other things. Don't get me wrong I'm all for hearing about your negative experiences but I'd love to see if there is some women who have only had minor side affects from the implant! Any information would be helpful, thanks in advance ladies 💕

Okay so for me it's been good! No babies and I have unprotected sex. However most of the time we still use withdrawal because we're both pretty paranoid. So effectiveness wise, I'm 100% happy. Thank god I'm one of the lucky ones (so far) side effects wise. Yes my periods are prolonged and can last up to 3 weeks (longest one I've had so far and had it in for four months) but it's lighter than spotting. I don't need to use any sanitary products because nothing comes out enough. It's more just like blood on the toilet paper. So I can still have clean sex with it etc, just no head for me because ew. I'm not a very emotional person, I very rarely cry/get angry, however since getting the rod I've noticed my emotions are turned up a notch. I get upset over smaller things than I used to. But again like I said I'm lucky and it's not even close to an issue. Hasn't affected any of my relationships or myself mentally. So if really recommend the rod in my personal experience. Best part is if you can't handle it it is easily removed. I'd say give it a shot regardless of all the scary reviews. Oh and my weight has stayed the same and skin is the same also. Good luck!

I've had the implant for 8 months, in the first month when I got the implant I bled for the entire time then stopped and I've only had two light periods since, it's all good for me apart from making me gain a little weight, it sometimes feels like a little pinch under my arm now and again but apart from that all is well and I'm happy with the implant

Positive the first 6 months and then negative. I was breastfeeding the first 6 months so it was great. I didn't have any periods while breastfeeding though, but the pill wasn't working for me so I changed to the implant. 
After I was done breastfeeding came the crazy long and heavy periods (3 weeks long, tampon and a maxi pad and I still couldn't control the flow!) So I changed back to the pill.

Positive because I'm not pregnant 😂 negative because periods are 2 weeks on average. I have crazy discharge most of the time too. Pretty much hate it, but I dont know of any other effect birth control other than the pill.
