Why are you religious?

Question

I live in the UK and over here we are largely  athiest, but the're also a huge variety of religions practiced. On this app however all the Americans I have seen are Christian. So my question is this;

To all religions people, are you religious? If so, why are you?

I grew up in a Christian household, but it wasn't until I was about 18 that I got serious about my relationship with the Lord, He's changed my life and I just love Him! 😄😄

It was all I had when I lost my son... Nothing anyone could tell me made me feel better but I dove into the bible and I could feel the Lord's presence of peace and warmth and hope surround me.. Since then I have had so many signs of his existence that for me personally to deny him would take more faith thank knowing God is here.... I don't always go to Church, but neither did Jesus... I prefer to dive in to the bible with my husband or alone at the cemetery or with a friend.. We do have a family pastor that we all adore and he baptized my son before he passed... This is why I worship...

I am a Christian. Being religious and having a true relationship with Jesus Christ are two different things. Every decision and response we make in life and on this app should be made with more love and less judgment.

I am a Christian. I wouldn't call it religious because that just sounds legalistic and about practices or rituals and that is not what Christianity was intended to be.  For me, Christianity is about a relationship with God/Jesus Christ. He is my hope, my friend, and my saviour. I've had many personal experiences in which I know God was present and intervened on my behalf.

Because I'm a sinner in need of a savior! Praise be to God that He humbled himself enough to come to the earth and live a perfect life as an example to all men and then be sacrificed as an atonement for my sin so that I may be saved. I can't wait to meet my Creator and sit with Him in Glory. If you have a problem with hypocritical Christians I want you to know that we all are but that is why we so desperately need Jesus. Don't focus on the life's led by Christians who claim to be perfect, but focus on the life lived by the One who is perfect, Jesus. Seek Him and He will seek you. It's the most satisfying and joyful place to be. If you have any questions I would love to talk :)

I have a personal relationship with my savior. However, I don't feel that I need to go to church like I did when I was younger, or shove my beliefs down anyone else's throat in order to legitimize my own relationship with God. I practice my religion on my own. And I've never felt more at peace and closer to my savior than I do now! 😊

I voted other because I don't see myself as religious. I am not bound to a set of rules to get to heaven. I was given the gift of mercy and grace, and that's why I'll be going to heaven. As for how I live my life, I practice Jesus's  teachings because I believe they are the best guide to a joyful life and I am eternally grateful for Gods mercy, therefore I will do all I can to serve my God. That being said, I am human. I sin practically on a daily basis. I'm far from perfect, and sometimes I don't see my sin for awhile, but that's just brings us back to being grateful for grace.
I go by the label of a Christian. But the amount of Christian that practices their faith the way I do is not as common as the statistic.

Not all Americans are Christian. I'm sure you've seen plenty of Americans of other religions. We just aren't as loud about it.

I am religious exclusively because of becoming a Jehovah's Witness. If JW's did not exist I would be anti religion. I would not have actually seen that this stuff is for real. I would think it was a crapload of lies. I would see all religions as blind faith and I would be a firm Athiest. I have seen how God acts in my life (not the lame stuff that people often talk about) and I also firmly believe in demons and Satan existing as well as angels. Many talk about not putting faith in anything that is invisible. Well, demons absolutely do freaky things and hold power to make peoples lives troubled. They can do terrifying things. And I learned something. Like the bible says, the demons shudder at God's name. They literally can fall over when you say God's name. It terrifies them. I am being totally open here. Also, I am a JW because there is nothing that doesn't make sense. Other denominations have many 'its a mystery' teachings. It's all in the bible. And if the info is not there in the bible, does that not mean the teaching is man made? And if it is man made, that leads us to the question of whether they are leaving the scriptures and actually adding false teachings to true ones essentially disguising themselves as 'angels of light'? I'm not saying specific religions but blind faith is wrong. You deserve to actually know what and why you are following certain teachings. If there are things you want answers to, things that you wonder about.. Ask your priest. If he won't answer you, feel free to throw that question at me. I'm an ordained minister so I've had plenty of scriptural training and its ongoing. I don't know everything but I can find the answers.
